Imogen Dunkley

Artist Biography

I am an artist from Milton Keynes and my work that I have been completing over COVID has been looking at the participatory relationship between objects, inhabitants and audience. It began with drawing snapshots of my flatmates rooms through pencil drawings in the form of film stills, before translating these onto larger A3 cards, creating games and such that involve audience participation. I have then been extrapolating and transposing these into shapes and forms that are token-like objects to distribute around the flat and move into different places. I like the idea of the authorship being handed over to the audience, who are able to play and move around with the pieces. The work acts as tokens of the environment that I have spent so much time in within the past year, and focuses on how environment can be warped through perception, creating new interpretations of a space that has become so familiar and stagnant.
